An excellent tasty dal powder that pairs very well with steaming hot rice with a good dollop of fresh desi ghee. We can make chutney that matches with Idlis, dosas, Chapatis, Rotis, Pooris by mere adding of shredded coconut paste.this is one of the traditional and authentic flavours of Kongu region of Tamilnadu.
It created the wonderful feeling pf explosion of tastiness in the taste buds with a burst of different flavours.
You can temper the steamed rice with shallots, curry leaves, green chillies, coriander greens with dal powder as Podi Satham.
How to make this Dal powder/Paruppu podi/Idli Podi?
Ingredients:
Chana Dal 2 x 125 gm
White Sesame seeds 130 gm
Black Pepper 1 tsp
Kashmiri Chillies 8 pcs
Dry red chillies 8 pcs
Curry leaves 15-20 pcs
Asafoetida 3 pinches
Indu Salt 1 tsp

Procedure:
Dry roast Chana dal, White Sesame seeds, Red chillies, Red Chillies, Curry leaves separately.
Transfer them in a dry plate. Add Asafoetida and Salt.
Set aside to cool down.
Grind into a coarse powder.
Store them in dry airtight container.
It can do well upto one month.
Stays fresh upto one month.
